Cécilia Becanovic

Born in 1974, Cécilia Becanovic graduated from The Nîmes School of fine Arts with a DNAP in 2000. In 2004, she took a Master’s degree in Curatorial Studies (La Sorbonne – Paris) for which she organised the show « 100 Mona Lisa valent mieux qu’une / 100 Mona Lisas are better than one » at l'Espace Paul Ricard, Paris and « L’instant d’avant / the moment before » in two different spaces: Console and Galerie Pitch, Paris. Since 2003, she's been writing for the art publication Offshore, focused for the most part on the art scene in southern France.

Maxime Thieffine

Maxime Thieffine was born in Compiègne, France, in 1973. After taking a Master’s degree in cinema criticism (La Sorbonne – Paris) in 1999, he taught the aesthetics of Renaissance art & religious iconography for 4 years at the same university. At the same time, he began a career as a video artist which led him to the French film school Le Fresnoy (from 2003 to 2005). He continues to develop his artistic practice which is mainly focused on the notions of media-scape, the place of the human body there and the confrontation between matter and digital information. In Spring 2007, he will be in residency as part of program Synapse at Rueil-Malmaison art school. His activity within l'Ambassade is a further context and tool within which to explore the practice of editing as well as the organization of documents & information in real space.
